Victory Baptist Karate started November 2001 for church members who wanted to get some exercise while learning self defense. It quickly progressed into a full fledged karate program with the main focus being an outreach ministry to reach people for the cause of Christ. Currently, there have been several families that have joined the church as a result of the ministry. The program provides an atmosphere of christian fellowship while at the same time, the self defense is taken very seriously. In the last 4 years Victory Baptist Karate has produced 2 Texas State Champions, with numerous other students being ranked in the top ten at their prospective ranks.

The classes are headed up by Harry and Lori Birdsong. Harry is a 5th Degree Black Belt and Lori is a 4th Degree Black Belt. Tae Kwon Do is the main art of study. The students call the style of Martial Arts taught "Tex Kwon Do," as a hybrid form of the art is taught while incorporating several other styles for optimum effectiveness.

There are 9 additional Black Belts teaching and training at Victory; Virgil Peterson - 5th Degree, Adam Walter - 4th Degree, Diane Hutchison - 3rd Degree, David Whitley - 1st Degree, Jake Whitley - 1st Degree, Pastor Brann - 1st Degree, Scott, Brenda and Shane Sloan - 1st Degree. The program could not function without their dedicated assistance. That's a total of 11 Black Belts instructing approximately 35 full time students.

In the end, the goal of the program is to first serve Christ and grow in the grace and knowledge of Him. Second, to gain skill and knowledge in the Martial Arts.
